our story

"Jesus has invited all of us to be a part of His plan. He has designed all of His people to know His joy as we share His love, spread His Word, and multiply His life among all of the peoples of the earth. This is the grand purpose for which we were created: to enjoy the grace of Christ as we spread the gospel of Christ from wherever we live to the ends of the earth. And this purpose is worth giving our lives to seeing it accomplished. It’s worth it for billions of people who do not yet know the mercy and majesty of God in Christ. And it’s worth it for you and me, because we were made to be disciples who make disciples until the day when we see the face of the One we follow, and together with all nations we experience His satisfaction for all of eternity." - David Platt

Who: Chelsie and Amanda. Two women with a friendship founded on a unified calling of the heart with ONE purpose: to spread God's love to the women of Uganda. We met a few years ago, through a mutual friend, in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2013 our friendship bloomed after realizing we shared a passion for international missions.

What: After being blessed with the chance to serve with Sozo Children (a non-profit Christian ministry that runs 4 children homes caring for 120 orphans) in Uganda, "it" was undeniable we had to return! We had both spent a significant amount of time in Uganda and realized we have the same heart and passion for women and children, all while sharing the love of Jesus and knew we were being called to go back to Uganda together. We will be going to Uganda with a very intentional purpose - to help start a new division of Sozo that will minister to the widows and single mothers in Nnongolo Village.

When: Although we have corporate jobs right now we both feel our time at our current employer has come to an end. Chelsie recently resigned from her job of 7 years. Until Chelsie's departure she will be fulfilling 40 days of requested work in the Sozo office, while preparing her heart and mind for the transition. Amanda's company is aware and she will be making the transition with them until the time she departs.
We will be departing for Uganda after Christmas. We will be gone approximately 5 months the first time. Next summer we will return to the States for a visit (for VISA purposes, family time, doctors appointments, and stateside research for our mission). The plan from there is to work for Sozo indefinitely making trips back to Uganda should the Lord make it clear that is His plan for us.

Where: Birmingham, Alabama to Kitende, Uganda.

Why: Why not? Our hearts are broken for the lost, the unloved, the forgotten, the widows & the orphans. God's plan for our lives is faithful. He purposely laid this mutual calling on our hearts in His perfect time. We do not yet have families and this is the time to drop everything and follow this call on our lives. We know in our hearts we are supposed to be working for an international ministry specifically working with women and children. "If your greatest joy is to experience the infilling grace of God overflowing from you for the good of others, then the best news in all the world is that God will do the impossible through you for the salvation of the hidden peoples".

We are so excited about where the Lord is leading us and the women of Uganda through this journey. Please pray for clarity, discernment, wisdom, and support as we continue to prepare mentally and physically.  We believe God will provide the financial support needed in order to fulfill this calling on our lives through supporters like you.

"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3:18
